Today at work I had probably one of the weirdest and creepiest experiences in my life. I'm a part-time custodian at a church downtown. Monday through Friday we host a program known as "Out From the Cold." After I finish my cleaning I usually help out with the program, either serving coup, or manning the door. Today, I was helping man the door. So as this gentleman was going out side to smoke a cigarette he took two chocolate bars from his pocket and handed them to me. I thanked him and put them at my desk, then returned back to the door. Upon my return back to the door, the other person manning the door with me, John, had said that the man who had given me the chocolate wants to give me a cigarette too. Once the gentleman saw me again, he handed me this envelope with the cigarette in it.
"Here, it's the second from my new pack." The man said to me holding out the envelope in my direction.
"Thank you sir, however, I don't smoke." I replied to him.
"Try it." The man said as he walked away, he put the envelope on my desk then returned back to the room of which "Out From the Cold" was located in. I then took both the chocolate and the cigarette and placed it on the coordinator of this program's desk with a long note explaining everything.
I was, and am actually rather freaked out by the entire situation. I mean, what did that man take me for? I'm a relatively good kid, I don't really rebel. I'd never smoke-- not now, not ever. It's because of cigarettes that I have asthma. It'd just be dumb to smoke, I'd be a walking time-bomb.
